| The Carlos began as a golf road trip for Carl and several friends, in 1978, to the Springs. It has blossomed into one of Eastern Iowa's premier invitational golf events with as many as 140 participants. The tournament moved from its original venue at the Springs (near Spring Green, Wisconsin) in 1990 to Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City. With the onset of the new millennium the Carlos moved again in 2000; this time to The Meadows near Dubuque. | The tournament is managed by its benevolent founder and chairman; Carl, with the help of Mike, Becky, and Julie. The event distributes many donated and purchased prizes each year for flight winners, flag events, and special events. All participants are also invited for a couple of beers after golf. (Although several persons have been seen downing a few before finishing the round). The Carlos has had a very prestigious past and hopes to continue its fine tradition for years to come. |
